In the spirit of cooperation, and in keeping with Al-Anon’s Twelve
Traditions, the following information is provided to inform and assist
members with their efforts to reach more potential newcomers. Although the
Al-Anon Family Group Headquarters, Inc. (WSO) does not endorse, support, or
oppose outside entities, individuals, or events, we do cooperate with them.
Hallmark Hall of Fame has recently obtained a film option to William G.
Borchert’s book, The Lois Wilson Story–When Love is Not Enough for a
TV film special. The WSO has been serving as a resource for the development
of a screenplay for the project.
Mr. Borchert’s book has increased interest in the life of Lois W., her
relationship to Bill, and the formation of Al-Anon and Alateen. Since the
book was released in 2005, the author has had numerous radio, TV, and
Internet interviews reaching audiences on a global level, made numerous
personal appearances at book signings, and given presentations at seminars
for professionals.
Currently, the July 2007 issue of the Daily Word magazine features
an article by Wiliam Borchert titled "God in Action" about his friendship
with Lois, her relationship to Bill W., the early days of A.A., and the
formation of Al-Anon as well as Alateen. This article will reach Daily
Word subscribers around the world in four languages. A copy of the
article is attached in PDF. It will be necessary for you to download the
article in order to rotate the pages so that it is readable.
One person can make a difference. Whether or not an author is an
Al-Anon member, he or she can make information about Al-Anon or Alateen
available to the public, the media, and professionals. The outcome is that
print and other types of media increase and broadens public awareness of
Al-Anon and our purpose.
The WSO Communications Section will continue to provide updates about the
Lois W. Hallmark Hall of Fame TV film project as received.
Please forward this information to members and trusted servants in your
area who may be interested.
